A Luxe Laundry Room with a Native Concrete Trails Sink

Discover how investing in elevated fixtures, like the NativeStone Farmhouse 2418, can transform your laundry room into a sophisticated — and functional — haven that makes daily chores a breeze

In home design, the laundry room is often an afterthought, a space relegated to utilitarian function rather than aesthetic appeal. But creating a bespoke room for this tedious chore can transform this everyday space into a refined and efficient sanctuary that you (dare we say it) look forward to using. From designing a function-forward layout to adding ample counterspace and high-end fixtures, each step in the process can contribute to efficiency and luxury, combined.

That’s exactly what Camila Pejnovic accomplished in her Indianapolis home, where her very first renovation task was converting a bedroom into a spacious laundry room. The influencer behind the My Rustic Modern Living Instagram page spoke to Native Trails about how she mixed her signature rustic charm and modern flair to create a laundry room that makes doing laundry a simple joy.

Tell us why your laundry room was at the top of your list when starting renovations on your home.

We are a family of four with two young boys, so we prioritized our laundry room. Having a functional laundry space simply makes the daily tasks a lot easier.

During the renovation of our home, we decided to convert a small bedroom into a laundry room. This decision improved our quality of life. Now don’t have to go [up and down] two flights of stairs with baskets in our hands to do laundry in the basement!

Splurging on premium elements can elevate a laundry room from mundane to magnificent. Can you tell us about your experience with that selection process?

We wanted to create a functional yet beautiful space since laundry chores can be a bit tedious.

I dedicated time to select the right pieces that would complement the space without compromising in quality. We added plenty of cabinets in the laundry room for linen storage, a countertop for folding and a hanging bar for those delicate pieces that you can’t really put in your dryer.

A must-have for us was the Native Trails concrete farmhouse sink with a gold faucet — the contrast elevated this space with added functionality.

Focusing on fundamental elements in a utilitarian space is an absolute must, but it’s equally important to create a space that feels custom-tailored to your family’s needs!

What tips can you share for creating a laundry room that’s uniquely your own?

Visualize your space. Create a mood board and add all the features you would like to have in that space. Make sure all these features are possible with the space you have (without clutter). Design areas with cabinet doors and deep drawers so the space can feel more organized and give you plenty of storage.

Also, make space for small décor; this step is important since you want to create an inviting laundry room. Add a vase, décor hooks, a cute soap dispenser by your sink.

These items will bring you joy and make laundry more enjoyable.

What does every dream laundry room need?

Counter space and a sink. These two must-haves make the perfect combo for functionality and design. I love being able to fold my laundry in the laundry room and even better, washing dirty shoes, or small pieces of clothes you can’t add in the washer. The benefits are endless!
